Winners were announced for the 2011 Queensland SCL Awards, which have been developed by the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia, Queensland Division, in conjunction with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Strategix Training Group, the Transport and Logistics Workforce Advisory Group and apics. Over 350 people were in attendance at the Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Conference dinner where the SCL Award winners are announced each year.
2011 Queensland Supply Chain Management Award

The winner of the 2011 Queensland Supply Chain Management Award is Salad Fresh. The restructure of the business when Convenience Foods and Mrs Crocket’s Kitchen combined to form Salad Fresh also combined the logistics departments for both businesses into one. Major steps in this transformation included the creation of a Logistics Operations Centre (LOC) in Brisbane. This has effectively halved the cost of Customer service and logistics, it has significantly reduced errors, improved customer service, eliminated safety incidents. A High Commendation was awarded to Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association of Queensland (WCRAQ).
2011 Queensland Environmental Excellence Award
The winner of the 2011 Queensland Environmental Excellence Awards is the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association of Queensland (WCRAQ). The importance of WCRAQ and its united member organisations was clearly demonstrated during the 2011 natural disasters in Queensland. WCRAQ was the coordinating industry body, supported by its members, who worked with the Brisbane City Council to facilitate the safe collection, transport and disposal of more than 400,000 tonnes of flood-related wastes and also provided specialist industry advice to other affected Councils across the state. A High Commendation has been awarded to Clean Run Eco Drive - Strategix Training Group.

The winner of the 2011 Queensland Training, Education and Development Award is Women Take the Wheel – Department of Transport and Main Roads Alliance.
The Women Take the Wheel program encourages women to pursue a career in the predominately male transport, logistics and supply chain industry. The initiative has two aims: to retain and engage women already in the industry and to address the current shortage of skilled workers by attracting and training new industry entrants – directly enhancing the industry’s capability. The Women Take the Wheel initiative is the first program of its kind within the transport, logistics and supply chain industry in Australia.

The winner of the 2011 Queensland Industry Excellence Award is Rick Ralph, Executive Director, Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association of Queensland (WCRAQ). Nothing demonstrated the united force and pivotal importance of WCRAQ to Queenslanders more than its operations during the clean up of the 2011 Brisbane floods. Rick acted as a liaison to facilitate the safe collection, transport and disposal operations of more than 750 separate requests of removing and disposing of hazardous and regulated wastes, the safe disposal of 25,000 dead chickens, and of moving more than 8,000 tonnes of market waste in just 48 hours to get the markets reopened.
A High Commendation has been awarded to Ian Lovell, State President, Refrigerated Warehouse & Transport Association.

The winner of the 2011 Queensland Future Leaders Award is Nikki Hasicevic, Procurement Coordinator, Snap Fresh. Nikki is employed by Snap Fresh (a division of Qantas Catering) and she started on the operations floor in 2003 and has worked in most areas of the factory before moving to her current role as Procurement Coordinator. She is starting to realise she has the capability and skills to look to more senior supply chain roles and a prominent place in the industry. Nikki is a natural leader and mentor, with a wealth of patience, wisdom and foresight well beyond her years and her influence within Snap Fresh extends far beyond her team.
A High Commendation has been awarded to Amanda Childs, Pallet Controller, Blenners Transport.
