T&L AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED




With over 400 people in attendance at the 2009 Queensland Supply Chain & Logistics Conference dinner the SCLAA, in conjunction with the Australian Logistics Council, APICS, CIPSA, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Strategix Training Group announced the winners of the 2009 T&L Industry Development Awards for Queensland.

Queensland T&L Industry Futures Award, was presented by Nathanael Green, Director, Strategix Training Group to the company, institution or organisation with the best proven record in providing people with an entry to, and pathway in, the Transport, Supply Chain and Logistics Industries. This included, but was not limited to, education or training (formal or in-house), implementing flexible work practices, workforce development and support in career progression.

THE 2009 T&L INDUSTRY FUTURES AWARD WINNER IS THE TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS WORKFORCE ADVISORY GROUP

The Transport & Logistics Workforce Advisory Group (TLWAG) Capability Program was born in late 2006 by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) to create sustainable, workable solutions for the industry’s skills and labour shortage in Queensland. The purpose of the Transport and Logistics Workforce Advisory Group (TLWAG) is to support the government and industry in identifying current and future workforce capability challenges. The group also provides advice through Queensland Transport to the Department of Education Training and the Arts on industry priorities for government investment in education and training.

Some of TLWAG’s successes to date include:

    *      Skilling Queenslanders for Work (Road Transport)

    *      Adopt a School program

    *      Experience Pays Awareness Strategy

The inaugural Queensland T&L Experience Pays Awards, (Under ten years and over ten years categories), were presented by Don Bletchley General Manager (Office of the Director- General), Dept of Transport & Main Roads to provide incentive and recognition for mature-age individuals working in the Transport, Supply Chain and Logistics industries.
